Cruise

Hardware Reliability Engineering Intern

January, 2020 - March, 2020

Improved the way people move around by testing the hardware that makes self driving cars possible and safe!

What I did at Cruise

  • Categorized over 25 critical vehicle locations for vibration loading and temperature & humidity cycling.

  • Used MATLAB to analyze over 1 billion vibration data points from tri-axis accelerometers to create a series of power spectral density curves for 10 autonomous vehicle sensor locations.

  • Created temperature profiles for 10+ vehicle locations using temperature sensors to monitor exterior sensors and the internal computing system.

  • Determined residual torque values of a new thread locking compound for various bolt sizes.

  • Wrote multiple Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new testing hardware.

  • Improved internal tool tracking system for part sign out and return.

AS Works

Mechatronics Engineering Intern

May, 2019 - November, 2019

Designed and built the docking station for our autonomous drones in order to eliminate the need for human interaction during the the landing, charging and take off phases.

What I did at AS Works

  • Designed a precise and autonomous landing system for outdoor and indoor UAV’s used to charge and dock a drone between flights (0.5in of accuracy).

  • Designing an autonomous long range (1 - 5 km) drone tracker that receives live flight data when out of range from standard communication options.

Swell

Founder

September, 2018 - February, 2019

After my dad survived open heart surgery to remove a football size tumour I was inspired to help other patients in similar situations. I set out to improve doctor to doctor communication while reducing post-operative complications for surgical patients.

What I did at Swell

  • Worked with surgical staff from over 20 hospitals across North America with the goal to provide early warning of surgical sampling to doctors.

  • Generated multiple wireframe concepts that I used in over 200 customer interviews to determine key product features.

  • Generated over 1000 + leads to conduct customer interviews using customer relationship management (CRM) software.

Hatch

Machine Design Engineering Intern

January, 2018 - April, 2018

Designed a flow restricting nozzle to precisely control the thickness of the galvanizing coating while simultaneously saving operators up to $10,000 annually.

What I did at Hatch

  • Designed a high-temperature (800°C) flow restricting nozzle and seal for galvanizing equipment that cut operating costs by 50% equating to approximately $10,000 in annual savings.

  • Statistically analyzed galvanizing process line equipment to determine the accuracy and consistency of the zinc coating layer using Excel and VBA.

CNLOPB

Reservoir and Resource Engineering Intern

April, 2017 - August, 2017

Wrote over 25 VBA macros to increase data input rate by 40% and reported excessive natural gas burning of deep sea oil drilling facilities.

What I did at CNLOPB (Canadian Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board)

  • Wrote over 25 VBA macros to increase data input rate by 40% along with reporting excessive natural gas burning of deep sea oil drilling facilities.

  • Led the approval process for changes to deep sea oil wells for companies like Exxon Mobil, Husky Energy and Suncor by working with CNLOPB’s C-Suite Executives.
